Francisco de Asís Aguilera Aranda
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Indonesia and to ASEAN
Ambassador Aranda was born in Granada (Spain) on 14 July 1964. He majored in law at the University of Granada and entered the Spanish Foreign Service in 1992. His current position is as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the Republic of Indonesia and to ASEAN. His previous position was as Director for Multilateral Economic Relations and Air, Land and Sea Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid (2017-2021), where he was dealing with global commons international issues, especially with neighboring countries or at ICAO, IMO, CLCS and other organizations. He was Head of Delegation of Spain to the Antarctic Treaty and Senior Arctic Official of Spain at the Arctic Council.
Previously he served as Consul General in Dusseldorf, Germany and Monterrey, Mexico and as Deputy Head of Mission at the Spanish Embassies in Jakarta, Indonesia (2003-2005), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1999-2003), Amman, Jordan (1996-1999) and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1992-1994). In Madrid his career has further focused on Middle East and Africa. And was advisor to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007).
He has been honoured with the Order of Isabella the Catholic in Spain (2007). He is married and father of one son and two daughters.
