Jeffrey Labovitz
<p>Mr Labovitz has over three decades of diverse experience in leading and managing development programmes, humanitarian response, and strategic responses to migration issues around the globe. He was appointed IOM Chief of Mission to Indonesia in 2023. Mr. Labovitz ensures that the organization works in tandem with the Republic of Indonesia's migration priorities in line with the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM). Indonesia is both a signatory to the GCM as well as a regional champion. IOM Indonesia aims to assist migrant populations in collaboration with government institutions, international partners, the private sector and civil society to support migration governance. IOM Indonesia maintains nine offices throughout the country. Mr. Labovitz previously served as the Director of the Department of Operations and Emergencies at IOM headquarters. Other assignments within IOM include serving as IOM’s Regional Director for East and Horn of Africa, IOM Chief of Mission to Thailand, Regional Coordinator for the Western Newly Independent States, Regional Representative for South Central Europe, and IOM Chief of Mission to Ukraine. Mr. Labovitz holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations from the University of San Diego, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and International Relations from the University of California, and an International Diploma in Humanitarian Affairs from Hunter College in New York.</p>
